Express Scripts expands its new headquarters
Expansion will include an additional 200,000-square foot building
ST. LOUIS (November 2007) - Express Scripts Inc. announced it would build a second office building at University Place/NorthPark the Business, Technology and Research Park of the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL).The new 200,000-square foot building will be adjacent to the company’s corporate headquarters. Construction of the new space will be conducted in conjunction with NorthPark Partners, developers of the neighboring mixed-use development NorthPark. NorthPark Partners was also responsible for the construction of the current headquarters.
“We are very excited about helping Express Scripts to expand its current space,” said Chris McKee, President of McEagle Properties, LLC. “This kind of growth is key to the success of NorthPark and the surrounding area.”
Construction began in mid-November and the company plans to occupy the new space in May 2009. The newest building will house 900 information technology, client services and corporate financial services employees currently working in the company’s Maryland Heights locations. Express Scripts is one of the nation’s leading managers of pharmacy benefit plans. Before moving to its current location at NorthPark, Express Scripts had more than 1,000 employees in different locations in the St. Louis area.
With approximately 550-acres, the NorthPark development is the largest urban land redevelopment parcel in the Midwest. The $400 million development is expected to have a $7 billion impact on the community, creating approximately 12,000 new jobs.
Created from an airport buyout more than 20 years ago, NorthPark is the future site of a perfectly designed development for growing companies. NorthPark is located at the northeast corner of Interstates 70 and 170,in the cities of Kinloch, Berkeley and Ferguson. When complete this development will accommodate office, retail and light industrial space.
